IJSO – 2019, Qatar!

The bronze medal is ours!

IJSO (2019) – International Junior Science Olympiad is held in Doha, Qatar's capital. IJSO is one of the most difficult Olympics in the world. It lasts for ten days. Olympiad is held in 3 natural sciences: physics, chemistry and biology. It has three rounds. The students compete in test, theoretical and experimental tasks.

Team leaders participate in the selection and translation of Olympic tasks. All participants should be fluent in English. This year, a record number of countries participated in the Olympics – 70. Our team had an impressive speech at the Olympics – Georgians won a bronze medal!

The Georgian team was fully staffed with students of the 10th graders of Georgian-American High School (since the age of the participants should not exceed 16 years).

The team included:

· Mariam Katamashvili

· Mikheil Sepashvili,

· Alexander Kokiauri,

· Luka Mchedlidze,

· Nano Kantidze

· Luka Zukhbaia.

It should be noted that the current year's result is the best in the history of our team (Georgia has been participating in IJSO since 2016). STEM textbooks published by our school were created based on the objectives of previous years of IJSO which played a crucial role in the team's success.

The next Olympics will be held in the German city of Frankfurt, from which our team has already received an invitation. The number of participants (50 countries) was determined by the results shown in previous years. It should be noted that IJSO – 2020 honorary chairman will be Mr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President of Germany.
